At a glance
About The Ballet Centre.
The Ballet Centre was founded in 1985 as the first dance school in Dubai, and this year it celebrates its 40th anniversary. For four decades, families across the city have trusted us to give their children a classical ballet education built on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. Many students stay with us for five to ten years, from their first Pre-Primary class through the RAD Grades.
The RAD syllabus is the backbone of our ballet department. Each year we put more than a hundred students through RAD examinations, and the families who choose us expect their children to progress through the syllabus grade by grade. Alongside exams, we run annual shows, summer and winter camps, and workshops. Our studios are large and beautiful, and we collaborate with partners such as the Dubai Art Centre.
Our team calls itself the Ballet Centre family. It's a warm, close-knit school where teachers who love what they do can teach, grow, and build a long-term career.
The Role.
This role asks for two things together. You need to know the RAD syllabus thoroughly and teach it faithfully, so every child learns the set work and is ready when exam time comes.
The best teachers here bring the syllabus to life with fun, creativity and imagination, so that a four-year-old learns the set work properly and still leaves excited to come back. With children that young, that first class often decides whether a family stays with us for years.
What You'll Do.
- Teach the RAD ballet syllabus, mainly Pre-Primary, Primary and Grades 1–3, with flexibility to cover other levels when needed
- Deliver the full set work for each level (exercises, dances and music) so students progress through the syllabus as expected
- Prepare and enter students for RAD examinations, class awards and assessments, and track each child's readiness through the year
- Bring the syllabus to life for young children through stories, imagery, music and play, without losing the technical foundations
- Choreograph routines for the annual show, recitals and school productions
- Lead summer camps, winter camps, holiday workshops and outreach programmes
- Take part in open days, trial classes and promotional events, helping new families feel welcome
- Support student enrolment, retention and progression, working with our front-desk team so children stay and grow with us
- Communicate warmly and professionally with parents about their child's progress, from many nationalities and cultures
- Keep accurate attendance, syllabus progress and exam records
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
Who You Are.
- You know the RAD syllabus inside out. You can teach the set work for each level from memory, and you know what examiners look for.
- You love teaching children. Little ones make you smile. You're playful, patient and full of ideas for keeping them engaged.
- You hold the balance between fun and discipline. Your classes feel like play to a five-year-old, and they still cover everything in the syllabus.
- You stay calm and kind under pressure. You handle an energetic class, a worried parent or a teenager with the same steady warmth.
- You thrive in a multicultural setting. Dubai is home to families from all over the world, and you enjoy that.
- You're looking for a long-term home. We care about teachers who want to grow with us, and there is room to take on more responsibility over time.
Requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of the RAD ballet syllabus, from Pre-Primary and Primary through the Grades, with experience teaching it to children. This is essential.
- RAD teaching qualification, for example RAD Registered Teacher Status (RTS), the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS), the Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) or the BA (Hons) Ballet Education
- Track record of preparing and entering students for RAD examinations
- Proven experience teaching ballet to young children (around ages 4 to 8)
- Fluent English
- Willingness to work weekends (see Working Hours)
Please note: our ballet classes follow the RAD syllabus only. Teachers trained solely in other methods or syllabi (for example, Vaganova) who have not taught the RAD syllabus won't be a fit for this role.
A Big Plus.
- Experience in other styles such as tap, modern, jazz or contemporary (especially ISTD syllabi)
- Drama, musical theatre or stage performance experience
- Choreography for shows and productions
- Experience running holiday camps or children's workshops
Working Hours.
- Up to 36 hours per week over 5 working days
- Weekends are working days, with two days off during the week
- Occasional extra hours for performances, rehearsals, examinations and special events
What We Offer.
- Competitive salary starting from AED 13,000 per month (tax-free), based on qualifications and experience.
- Full UAE employment visa and work permit, sponsored and paid by The Ballet Centre
- Medical insurance
- Relocation support: flight to Dubai and temporary hotel accommodation while you settle in and find a home
- Annual leave, public holidays and sick leave in line with UAE Labour Law
- A safe, welcoming city to live in, and a school community that treats its teachers like family

Send your CV to helena@yamumedia.com along with:
- Your RAD teaching qualification and registration/membership number
